Chroma Home at Motor City Pride

Home is a place that holds complex meaning. It should be a sanctuary, but it is often where many of our LGBTQIA+ neighbors first experienced trauma and discrimination. As part of Rocket’s mission to Help Everyone Home, we wanted to give the LGBTQ+ community a space to reclaim what home means to them.

We popped up with an all white living room in the middle of Motor City Pride. Home can be many things, so we invited visitors to write their answer the prompt “home is _______”

8 HOURS LATER...

Over 1000 answers later, our pristine white living room was covered in color from floor to ceiling. The answers were moving, funny, relatable, inspirational, and deeply human. For some, home is where the bra comes off. For others, it’s with a pet or partner. For many, it’s where they feel safe and comfortable to be fully themselves.
