Chosen Family Portraits at Pride

The Insight
Belonging is what makes a house feel like home. For many LGBTQIA+ people, belonging is found in chosen families that provide vital bonds of love and support that often go undocumented.
The Idea
A new tradition: chosen family portraits. We set up a professional photo studio in the middle of Motor City Pride to honor that home isn’t just where you live. It’s where you feel love, belonging, and acceptance.
The activation
Over 1000 chosen families had their portraits taken by a professional photographer in a pop up photo studio. Photos were then displayed in a "foyer" on a digital gallery wall, printed for attendees on site, and sent digitally via a microsite.
